About Yes And Brain

Who is behind Yes And Brain?

Yes And Brain is the creation of me - Lacy - a trainer, psychotherapist, interpersonal neurobiology enthusiast, and multidisciplinary artist. I’m passionate about fusing knowledge from these domains to provide unique trainings and resources that can’t be found anywhere else.

My professional history is varied - from working in the corporate world (with an advertising/communication science degree), providing corporate trainings and keynotes, running specialized circus and improv theatre programs for neurodivergent and at-risk youth, working in the non-profit sector, training educators / helping professionals / medical professionals, and working as a psychotherapist.

All of these experiences have shaped how I approach my work now, and I have absolutely loved spending the last decade+ creating unique trainings and programs for folks all over the world.

When needed - I have a team of folks I call on for jobs that require additional professional resources or language competency.

Where are you?

I travel worldwide to provide services, and am also happy to provide services virtually.

What does “Yes And Brain” mean?

‘Yes And Brain” refers to a brain state that guides us to effective problem-solving, innovation, collaboration, and a space of deep understanding for both ourselves and others.

This concept of our “Yes And Brain” is a multidisciplinary expansion on the “Yes And Cycle” commonly taught in improv theatre classes around the world.

Improv theatre can look a lot of different ways, but overall, successful improv relies on a highly refined system of connection, observation, and response that uses listening skills, risk-taking, presence, mistake-management, flexibility, co-creation, and more together.

The Yes And Brain model blends these key ideas with clinical, neurobiological, therapeutic, corporate, and communication frameworks for use in “real-world” contexts.

Where we’re situated:

At this time, I am based in Tio’tia:ke (colonially known as Montreal) on the stolen land of the Kanien’kehá:ka. I was born and raised on stolen land and territory that was traditionally inhabited by a number of Indigenous peoples–– specifically the Apache, the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas, the Kickapoo Tribe of Texas, the Ysleta del sur Pueblo, the Lipan Apache Tribe, the Texas Band of Yaqui Indians, and the Coahuitlecan.

I am a settler and colonizer on all of the land I have lived on, and I commit to continue learning and unlearning about Indigenous history and present realities, educating myself, and supporting Indigenous thrival. I encourage you to continue educating yourselves, too, and learning how to better act in solidarity with the Indigenous communities close to you. I continue to work on what it means for us to be striving towards decolonization as an individual and organization.
